Nate Hetherington
Born in Huntington Beach, Calif., Nate moved to Encinitas at the early age of one and has resided there ever since. Nate has been passionate about the sport of soccer since as far back as he can remember and has not put down a soccer ball since he was four-years-old. He grew up playing for the San Diego Surf before joining the La Jolla Nomads at the age of 13. The Nomads team was like a family to Nate, and he feels as though he owes a great deal of his knowledge about the game of soccer to them, especially to Derek Armstrong and Brian McManus. After playing on the University of California San Diego soccer team, Nate graduated and went on to play professional soccer for the San Diego Flash for four years and then to Atlanta, GA for one year.
He played for the San Diego Sockers back in the early 2000’s and has found himself back to the professional field in Del Mar to play, once again, with his former team in their comeback season. When he is not busy with soccer, Nate loves surfing, travelling, or spending time with his wife Cherine, and daughters Riley (7) and Lucy (2).
