GM and Coach
Born in New York but raised in Florida, Phil attended Nova University in Fort Lauderdale where he earned his degree in Accounting. Before settling down in the insurance industry, Phil was drafted to play professional soccer in California in 1993. After two years as the San Diego Sockers’ goalie, Phil switched his jersey for a suit and started his career in the insurance industry. In 1997, Phil became an agent at Target Insurance Services, a company started by Carl Savoia, fellow partner of the San Diego Sockers today. Phil became President of Salmen Insurance Services and SIS Insurance Services in 2000 and 2001, respectively. He also remains President of First Solutions Finance Company, based in Carlsbad, along with his other insurance companies. In addition, Phil acts as a Principal of Preferred Contractors Insurance Company Risk Retention and Pacific Re, Inc., both based in Billings, Montana
Phil became the San Diego’s Sockers Head Coach in August of 2008 when the team was purchased by colleagues and friends, Carl Savoia and David Pike. When not coaching the new Sockers team, Phil enjoys boating and camping with his wife and three daughters.
