Chris Toth Earns Another TOTW Honor
Sockers goalkeeper Chris Toth was named to the Major Arena Soccer League's Team of the Week for the second time this season. Toth only allowed five goals in Sunday's win against the high-powered Sonora offense, which was averaging over eight goals per game.
Forward Kraig Chiles and goalkeeper Boris Pardo were placed on the honorable mention list for their performances over the weekend.
Toth made 16 saves to stop Sonora on the way to a 3-0 record on the season. He leads the league in GAA (3.33), save percentage (.804), wins (3) and shutouts (1). Combined with Pardo, who ranks second in GAA and save percentage, San Diego has the best goalkeeping tandem in the MASL.
Chiles, who leads the league in points (17), PPG (5) and GWG (5), tallied three goals and one assist in two matches over the weekend. He is second with 13 goals and fourth with 2.83 points per game average.
The MASL Team of the Week is selected using the Stars awarded at each game and by soliciting nominations from each team. Players nominated by teams were each awarded three points and stars were awarded 3 points (1st Star), 2 points (2nd star) and 1 Point (3rd star) respectively.
