Chris Toth Named All-MASL Goalkeeper of the Year

MAJOR ARENA SOCCER LEAGUE ANNOUNCES 1ST TEAM ALL-MASL

KANSAS CITY (April 5, 2017) – Championship Week continues for the Major Arena Soccer League as the league’s top players were recognized today. The 1st Team All-MASL selections were voted on by MASL personnel and team personnel.

1st Team All-MASL 2016-2017

Chris Toth (San Diego Sockers) – The Sockers goalkeeper was an important factor in San Diego’s run to the Western Conference Finals. He had a .815 Save Percentage and a 3.66 Goals Against Average, good for #1 and #2 in the league respectively.

John Sosa (Kansas City Comets) – Kansas City extended their playoff streak to seven straight seasons thanks to a mid-season surge and several late-game wins. John Sosa helped the team’s success with his stellar defensive play (18 blocks) and his on-field direction as the Comets attack flowed from him. Sosa’s helped out offensively too with six goals and 25 assists (Comets #1, MASL #2).

Stephen Basso (Harrisburg Heat) – The Harrisburg Heat experienced the greatest turn-around in the league this season as they qualified for the playoffs for the first time in modern franchise history. Defender Stephen Basso was critical to the team’s success in his first year with the team, helping the young roster to remain calm and focused and also led the league with 53 blocks along the way.

Ian Bennett (Milwaukee Wave) – Ian Bennett had a career season as the Wave finished the regular season as one of the hottest teams in the league. His career-best 53 goals and 64 points were each second-best in the league. His 14 Power Play Goals were #1 in the league

Max Ferdinand (Milwaukee Wave) – While Bennet was the flashy goal-scorer, Max Ferdinand was the quiet workhorse for the Milwaukee Wave. Ferdinand led the league in Assists (30) and was second on the team in goals (18) and points (48).

Franck Tayou (Soles de Sonora) – Franck “King” Tayou scored 17 goals in the season’s opening month and never looked back. He led the MASL in Goals (57), Points (72), Game Winning Goals (8) and Points Per Game (3.60). His 15 assists ranked him second on his team, behind only Daniel Lopez.
