Defender Cesar Cerda Signs Multi-Year Contract

The 14-time champion San Diego Sockers announced today that the team has re-signed stalwart defender Cesar Cerda to a multi-year contract beginning in the 2018-19 Major Arena Soccer League season. Per league and team policies, details of the agreement were not released.

Cerda, who is entering his seventh season, came to the Sockers from Las Vegas in 2016. He has scored 60 goals and recorded 57 assists in his 92-game career with the Saltillo Rancho Seco, Oxford City of Texas, Las Vegas Legends and Sockers. Last season, Cerda had 13 points on six goals and seven assists.

Sockers General Manager Sean Bowers stated, “Keeping Cesar was an important part of our plan, and we are pleased that he will be with us for a long time. Having a solid and steady defender like Cerda will help to keep our backline unit as one of the best in the League.”

In the past two weeks, the Sockers have signed four free agents and extended the contracts of Cerda and Luis “Pee Wee” Ortega in preparation for the 2018-19 MASL campaign.

The Sockers return to MASL play in December 2018 with a 24-game regular season schedule and 12 home games at Valley View Casino Center. Supporter Season Memberships for the 2018-19 campaign are now on sale at Sockers.com/Membership.
