Felipe Gonzalez Re-signs For 2018-19 Season
The San Diego Sockers announced the signing of defender Felipe Gonzalez to a one-year contract for the 2018-19 MASL season. As per team policy, terms of the deal were not announced.
“We are excited to bring back a player of Felipe’s caliber to our organization,” said Sockers General Manager Sean Bowers, “Sockers fans know what a competitor Gonzalez is, and how strong he is defensively, as well as what he can bring to supplement our attack. With Felipe and his twin brother Juan on the roster, we feel we’ve cornered the market on Gonzalezes.”
Felipe Gonzalez prepares to begin his third season with the Sockers, and eighth overall in professional arena soccer. In 2017-18, Gonzalez drew into 20 regular season contests for San Diego, finishing with 4-7=11 points, adding a goal and assist in three postseason contests. Over 108 games in his pro PASL/MASL career, Gonzalez has accrued 86-58=144 points. His best offensive season came in 2012-13 in Las Vegas, when Felipe tied a career high with 19 goals (in 16 games played) and added 11 assists for a 30-point season.
Gonzalez, 29, was born in San Jose, CA but makes his home in Las Vegas, NV.
