SOCKERS ACQUIRE RISING STAR GUERRERO PINO

The 14-time champion San Diego Sockers announced today that the team has acquired defender Guerrero Pino today as part of a three-team trade with the Kansas City Comets and Tacoma Stars. As part of the trade, the Tacoma Stars receive former Sockers forward Matt Clare and former Comets midfielder Milan Ivanovic. The Comets will receive Alain Matingou, Robert Palmer and Ramone Palmer.

Pino is entering his third season in the MASL and has been one of the Comets bright stars each of the past two years. He totaled 40 games in two seasons for Kansas City, tallying 22 goals and 13 assists along the way. He led the team in blocks in 2017-2018 with 23.

“We are excited to bring a player of Pino’s caliber to San Diego,” said Sockers General Manager Sean Bowers. “His ceiling is very high and we think that he can be a great addition to what we feel is the best backline in the MASL.”

The Sockers return to MASL play in December 2018 with a 24-game regular season schedule and 12 home games at Valley View Casino Center. The Sockers home opener is on Sunday, December 16, 5:05 p.m. Supporter Season Memberships for the 2018-19 campaign are now on sale at Sockers.com/Membership.
