Home Opener Set For November 28

The Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) today announced home openers for the 2026-27 regular season, where nine teams will compete to lift the Ron Newman Cup. The defending champion San Diego Sockers will, for the second straight season, begin with a Thanksgiving weekend home opener, taking on their Southern California rivals, the Empire Strykers, on Saturday, November 28 at Frontwave Arena. The match will be scheduled for a 6:05pm kickoff

“The beginning of every season is exciting, but when we have a championship banner to raise, it’s even better,” said Sockers president Sean Bowers. “We can’t wait to welcome our fans back to Frontwave Arena for a very special night on November 28.”

The Sockers will lift their 17th championship banner to the rafters on November 28 in a pre-match ceremony, representing the club’s third MASL championship, and the seventh since returning to modern play in 2009. San Diego has captured three MASL and four PASL championships in the modern era, in addition to the legacy of two NASL and eight MISL/MSL championships from 1982-1992.
