Kraig Chiles Selected To MASL All-League First Team
Carlsbad, CA (March 15, 2016)- Kraig Chiles was selected to the Major Arena Soccer League All-League First Team for the 2015-2016 season.
The Sockers' captain features on the MASL First Team for the sixth straight season.
The three time MVP finished second in the MASL in points with 55 and tied for second in the league in assists alongside fellow First Team selection Vahid Assadpour (Missouri) with 27.
Chiles finished just seven points behind Soles de Sonora’s Franck Tayou, but played two fewer games than Sonora’s hitman.
“Making First Team All-League is a significant honor,” Chiles said. Im really happy and thankful. I couldn’t have done it without my teammates, coaching staff and the entire organization.”
Despite the personal accolades, Chiles said it was a tough season, but he is proud of the group for the way they fought through each challenge they faced.
“I think the season as a whole was a learning experience. We faced some adversities that we haven’t seen in the past. I am really proud of the guys and the organization for being able to battle through it and get ourselves as far as we did, but when it’s all said and done this organization wants to win championships and we fell short of our goal. We are going to sit down, take a look back at our season and see how we can come back even stronger next year, both on and off the field.”
Midfielder Matt Clare received 2015-2016 MASL Honorable Mention. In his first season in San Diego, Clare finished second on the team in scoring with 23 goals and five helpers. This included two hat-tricks and eight multi-goal games.
