Kraig Chiles Selected to MASL All-Star Game

KANSAS CITY, MO--The Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) announced on Monday, November 9 that Sockers forward and team captain Kraig Chiles has been "drafted" to represent the Western squad in the upcoming MASL All-Star Game, expected to be held on December 5 at Cable Dahmer Arena in Independence, Missouri. The first of its kind in the MASL, the All-Star Game will pit a West and East squad head-to-head in an exhibition designed to re-start the emotional engines of indoor soccer fans nationwide.

Chiles, 36, is the Sockers' all-time leading goal scorer, and has featured as the club's top scoring forward since his debut in 2009. During the 2019-20 MASL season, Chiles appeared in 19 games, producing 22 goals and 11 assists (33 points) to lead the Sockers.  In his ten-year career, Chiles has 408 goals and 580 points between the PASL and MASL, the highest totals for any active player. Kraig Chiles is a four-time league champion and three-time PASL MVP.

"I'm excited to get the boots back on and have some fun playing the sport I love," said Chiles of the honor.

The MASL 2019-2020 season was ended in March due to the COVID pandemic. The league is hopeful of staging a season in 2020-21, with a tentative starting date announced for late December. The Sockers are continuing to monitor the situation as it stands with health and safety guidelines in the state of California and county of San Diego, and have not made any announcement yet as to their potential participation in such a season.

The MASL is expected to make further All-Star player announcements in the coming days and weeks leading up to December 5.  A limited number of socially-distanced tickets for the All-Star Game in Missouri are now available through www.ticketmaster.com or by calling the Kansas City Comets office at (888) 9-COMETS.
