MASL All-Stars add Farber to Round Out West Squad

KANSAS CITY, MO--The Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) today announced the selection of San Diego Sockers midfielder Brian Farber to the West team for the upcoming MASL All-Star Game, to be played on Saturday, December 5 at Cable Dahmer Arena in Independence, Missouri. Farber is the fifth Sockers star added to the MASL All-Star team, joining forward Kraig Chiles, midfielder Slavisa Ubiparipovic, and defenders Cesar Cerda and Guerrero Pino.

"It's an honor to be selected and I'm excited to play," said Farber of the selection, "I can't wait to get out to Missouri and play some indoor again."

Farber, 38, had a resurgent campaign in 2019-20, scoring 16 goals with six assists in 19 matches (16-6=22 points). He opened the season with a goal in six straight matches, and netted a hat trick in Harrisburg on January 24. Farber added 15 shot blocks to his stats, and has accrued 239 career goals and 128 assists (367 points) in 234 career matches across three pro indoor leagues (MISL, PASL, MASL). Brian is a former league MVP (PASL, 2008), a three-time league champion, and was the starting midfielder for Team USA and the WMF World Cup in 2019 in Australia.

The MASL 2019-2020 season was ended in March due to the COVID pandemic. The league is hopeful of staging a season in 2020-21, with a tentative starting date announced for late December. The Sockers are continuing to monitor the situation as it stands with health and safety guidelines in the state of California, and County of San Diego, and have not made any announcement yet as to their potential participation in such a season.
