MASL Team of the Week 4

KANSAS CITY (Nov 22, 2016) – Week Four of the Major Arena Soccer League was another weekend of exciting arena soccer. Every team has seen action now, with some surprising results so far. These players’ performances have been some of the best of the season, earning them their spots on the MASL Team of the Week.

Goalkeeper:
Danny Waltman (Tacoma Stars)
– Waltman recorded two tough road wins this weekend. On Friday he was the winning goalkeeper in a shootout win over the Dallas Sidekicks, and then the next night he made 12 saves on 15 shots to lead the Stars over the St. Louis Ambush.

Defenders:
Jose Martinez (Turlock Express)
– The Turlock Express upset the San Diego Sockers at home this weekend, in large part due to the leadership of Martinez. The defender had 3 blocks against the high powered Sockers offense, and then helped out offensively with a goal and two assists.
Corey Keitz (Tacoma Stars) – Keitz did his part to keep the pressure off of teammate Danny Waltman all weekend. Keitz recorded three blocks against Dallas on Friday, then stepped up with four more on Saturday against St. Louis.

Midfielders:
Gordy Gurson (Cedar Rapids Rampage)
– This is the second Team of the Week honor for Gurson. He had three assists, including the tying and winning goals as the Rampage recorded their first ever franchise win against the Milwaukee Wave.
Ian Bennett (Milwaukee Wave) – The veteran forward scored four goals and two assists on the weekend, including a hat trick and assist against the Kansas City Comets in their home opening win on Saturday night.

Forward:
Franck Tayou (Soles de Sonora)
– Tayou continues to rack up points this season. He leads the league in points (18) and goals (12) and is second in assists (6). Saturday night he accounted for nearly 40% of his team’s total offense with four goals and three assists in their win against the El Paso Coyotes.
