San Diego Cares Blood Drive Is December 16

•San Diego Cares: It’s in our Blood is the successor to the San Diego Chargers Blood Drive, which collected more than 74,000 pints of blood during of its 38-year history.

• This year’s goal is 1,000 pints.

• December 16, 2017, Town and Country Convention Center; 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., will feature:

o Live entertainment

o Interactive sports-themed activities for the whole family to enjoy, including a slap-shot tunnel, soccer clinics for the kids, and more.

o Lifesaving blood drive

o Autographs and special appearances by local sports teams and alumni

o A chance to win a new Honda CR-V

o Celebrity panel discussions:

 San Diego Padres panel featuring members of their 1998 National League championship team. Includes Greg Vaughn, Wally Joyner and others.

 “Epic in Miami” – featuring players from the 1982 playoff game in Miami, billed as "greatest game in NFL history.” Includes Rolf Benirschke, Hank Bauer and others.

 Sports talk with the San Diego Gulls and San Diego Sockers

• San Diego Cares “Mania” is November 15th-December 15th. If you donate blood at any San Diego Blood Bank donor center or mobile drive during Mania, you will receive a voucher that can be redeemed for a limited edition t-shirt and VIP access to the autograph line at the event on December 16th, as well as a free entry into our drawing to win a new Honda CR-V.


ABOUT THE SAN DIEGO BLOOD BANK

•The San Diego Blood Bank currently operates six local donor centers, 10 bloodmobiles, and 13 blood delivery vehicles. Our donor centers are located in El Cajon, Carmel Valley, Vista, Sabre Springs, Escondido and on Gateway Center Avenue.

•To be eligible to donate blood, you must be at least 17 years old (16-year-olds may donate with parental consent), weigh at least 114 pounds and be in general good health.

•One pint of blood can save up to three lives.

•The San Diego Blood Bank collects approximately 100,000 units of blood products annually.

•The San Diego Blood Bank’s Mission is: Saving lives with quality blood services in partnership with the community.
