Savage II Stymie Sockers2 In Second Half For 6-3 Win

The Chihuahua Savage II shut down the San Diego Sockers2 offense in the second half and scored three goals of their own for a 6-3 win at Pechanga Arena on Sunday afternoon. Renee Loya Hernández had a brace to lead the Savage II (6-1-0, 18 pts), who remained in first place in the West Division.

The match was tied 3-3 at halftime, but San Diego was stymied and could not find the back of the net in the final 30 minutes. The lack of scoring has been a problem all season long for the Sockers2 (1-3-1, 4pts). The loss dims the team's playoff hopes as they drop to fifth place in the division. Sean Callahan tallied twice for San Diego. Goalkeeper Xavier Snaer-Williams took the loss in goal after making 10 saves on 15 shots.

José Luis Islas Gómez earned the win by saving nine of 12 shots for Chihuahua, who looks like the team to beat in the West. The Savage have a six-point lead over second-place Club Deportivo de Baja California but have played two more games.
