Sockers 2 Claim MASL 2 Pacific Division Title

The Sockers 2, who remained unbeaten, held off a late Las Vegas rally to claim the MASL 2 Pacific Division title with a 9-8 road win over the Knights on Sunday afternoon. Sean Callahan (2-0=2) and Lorenzo Ramirez (2-0=2) tallied two goals each, while Chad Hagerty (1-2=3) and Ismael Rojo (1-2=3) contributed three points apiece to lead San Diego to its tenth straight win.

Kevin Josue and Manuel Rojo added a goal each to complete the team's scoring. Goalkeeper Yair Aguilar earned his 10th win of the season in relief of first-time starter Jared Levidow, who allowed three goals in the 20 minutes he played.

San Diego (10-0) held a 6-2 halftime lead and looked to have put the game away early in the fourth period by taking a 9-5 advantage. However, the Knights (3-6) scored three consecutive goals in the final seven minutes to pull within one with 44 seconds remaining. Duce Bell's hat-trick paced the Las Vegas offensive attack.

The Sockers 2, who won on 6-2 over Arizona on Saturday, return to action on Friday against the expansion Stockton Rush at Ron Newman Field at Pechanga Arena San Diego at 3:00 p.m.
