Sockers 2 Drop Third Straight In 9-8 Loss To Inferno
The Colorado Inferno edged San Diego 9-8 in an offensive thriller. The winning goal came with under two minutes remaining to bolster the Inferno to the win and first place in the Western Conference. The Sockers 2 have lost three straight and have dropped to 3-3.
The first half featured 13 goals and a 7-6 San Diego lead. The second half still had a lot of action despite the teams only finding the back of the net three times. San Diego had plenty of chances and if they could have shot straight they could have buried three goals, but they did not convert their chances.
Colorado (3-2) was led by Thomas Hoang's hat trick and the game-winner came off the foot of Armando Gonzalez. Leading scorer Andrew Lorei paced the Sockers 2 with two goals and one assist.
San Diego tries to end their slide against Las Vegas on Sunday, January 21, 1:05 p.m. at Valley View Casino Center. The Inferno travel to meet Ontario on Saturday, January 13, in a battle for first place in the Western Conference.
