Sockers And Stars To Open 2021 Ron Newman Cup Playoffs

The First Round of the 2021 Ron Newman Cup Playoffs is set with the Ontario Fury selecting the Dallas Sidekicks as their opponent, and the Kansas City Comets choosing the St. Louis Ambush. With the Florida Tropics winning the Regular Season Championship and receiving a bye to the Semi-Final Round, the third First Round matchup will feature the Tacoma Stars against the San Diego Sockers.

The Ontario Fury vs Dallas Sidekicks matchup will get the Playoffs schedule started on Wednesday, March 24 at 6 pm PST at Toyota Arena. The series will shift to Texas on Sunday, March 28 at the Allen Event Center with a 3 pm CST kick-off. If needed, a 15-minute mini-game will take place approximately 30 minutes after Game 2 concludes.

The Kansas City Comets and St. Louis Ambush will confine their battle to the State of Missouri beginning in Independence at Cable Dahmer Arena on Friday, March 26 at 7:05 pm CST. The teams will head down I-70 for Game 2 at the Family Arena on Sunday, March 28 at 3:05 pm CST. If the teams are tied at a game apiece, they will play a 15-minute mini-game following Game 2.

With the Stars and Sockers unable to compete at their home venues, their series will take place at Toyota Arena in Ontario California. Game 1 will kick off at 7:35 pm PST on Friday, March 26 with Game 2 taking place on Sunday, March 28 at 5 pm PST. Should the series be tied after two games, a 15-minute mini-game will take place following Game 2.

For the next round, the Florida Tropics will select their opponent with the two remaining teams facing off in the Semi-Finals which will take place at Cable Dahmer Arena with the first game of each series taking place on Thursday, April 1, and the second game on Saturday April 2. Game times are scheduled for 2:05 pm and 7:05 pm CST both days with 15-minute mini-games following each Game 2 if necessary.

If two west coast teams, consisting of any combination of Ontario, San Diego, and Tacoma reach the Ron Newman Cup Finals, the series will take place at Toyota Arena. If any team other than two west coast teams advance to the Finals, the Championship series will take place at the Family Arena. Game 1 will take place on Friday, April 9 with Game 2 happening on Sunday, April 11. Finals game times are yet to be determined.

Every round and game of the playoff schedule is subject to change due to COVID protocols or where MASL Commissioner Joshua Schaub finds changes necessary in the best interest of the League.
