Sockers Announce 2023/24 Promotional Schedule

The San Diego Sockers today announced their promotional schedule for the 2023-24 season at Pechanga Arena, beginning with Opening Night on Sunday, December 3 and continuing all the way through Fan Appreciation Night on Saturday, March 30. The twelve-match home schedule includes ten giveaway nights and two special halftime games.

“This is our final season at Pechanga Arena before moving into our own Frontwave Arena in 2024, and we want to pull out all the stops,” said Sockers general manager Sean Bowers, “I think we have a great mix of familiar theme nights our fans love, as well as new and unique giveaways we’ve never done before.”

The Sockers will begin to say “Farewell to the Grand Old Arena” on Opening Night, when the club hosts Tacoma for a 5:05pm kickoff. Fans in attendance will receive a Sockers Schedule T-Shirt featuring the “Farewell” logo on the front.

Two weeks later on Sunday, December 17 at 5605pm against Empire, the Sockers will open their gates for the third annual Sock Toss Night, combining the opportunity to give and receive. Fans will be asked to bring a new pair of socks or undergarments, to be thrown on the field after the Sockers score their first goal then gathered for charitable donation. Attendees will receive a new Sockers-logoed clear bag as a giveaway, perfect for Arena entry.

One of San Diego’s favorite traditions is Team Poster/Autograph Night, taking place on Saturday, December 30 at 7:05pm against Tacoma. All fans will receive a new 2023-24 Sockers team poster, and the club will remain on the field after the match to sign autographs and take pictures with fans.

The New Year kicks off with another familiar theme, as the Sockers host the Texas Outlaws on Sunday, January 7 at 5:05pm for the annual Media Game. Join your favorite local hosts, DJs and media members from San Diego and Tijuana for a special halftime match that always delivers plenty of fun. Fans will also receive a pair of giveaway Sockers sunglasses at the gate.

The Chihuahua Savage make their first of two visits to Pechanga Arena on Sunday, January 14 at 5:05pm for Kick Cancer Night, where the Sockers will invite local cancer charities to stage on the concourse, unifying for a night of charity and fun. Fans receive a giveaway designer Sockers-logoed belt bag. More details will be released closer to this special match.

The halfway point of the home schedule is Saturday, January 27 at 7:05pm, when the St. Louis Ambush make their only visit to San Diego this year on Alumni Night. Always one of the most popular nights of the season, this year’s Alumni Night will be extra special, as the legends of decades past return to play on the floor they made famous one final time during a special halftime game.

The Sockers’ only midweek home match is on Thursday, February 15, hosting the Texas Outlaws at 7:35pm on San Diego Sports Night, where the home club will welcome other local pro sports teams from around the county to join us for a night of celebration. The Sockers will debut a brand-new specialty kit that night, to be worn on the field and exclusively sold within the Arena. Stay tuned later in the season for the reveal of this very special “reverse” jersey.

On Sunday, February 25 at 5:05pm, the Sockers host the Kansas City Comets on “Country Night”, complete with a cowboy hat giveaway for fans in attendance. From music to dance to attire, the Sockers will be “kickin’ it country” as they battle KC in an intra-conference battle.

Special theme night kits will be the motif for the first weekend of March, as the Sockers host Empire Strykers on Friday, March 1 at 7:35pm for the fourth annual Star Wars Night. Special Star Wars-themed kits will be worn on the field and available for purchase at the merchandise stand. With cosplayers in attendance and roaming the concourse, picture opportunities will be plentiful. Fans will also receive special Glowing Bam-Bam Sticks as a promotional giveaway to add to the atmosphere, as San Diego looks to avoid having Empire “stryke back”.

Two days later on Sunday, March 3 at 5:05pm, the Chihuahua Savage return to town for Military Appreciation Night, when the Sockers will wear a USA-themed kit for this always-heated USA-Mexico rivalry matchup, one which helped determine last year’s Ron Newman Cup champion. In addition, fans in attendance will receive a camouflage-themed Sockers hat as a promotional giveaway.

Sunday, March 10 at 5:05pm will bring the most anticipated giveaway night of the season, as the Sockers host Empire on Hispanic Heritage Night. Fans will receive a free Sockers summer scarf featuring a Sugar Skull design and the phrase “¡Vamos Sockers!”

The home schedule concludes on Saturday, March 30 at 7:05pm on Fan Appreciation Night, when the Tacoma Stars make their final appearance of the season at Pechanga Arena. In addition to a Sockers-themed playing card giveaway for fans, this will be the final regular season home match in Sockers history at their longtime home. Fans are invited to stick around for a very special post-match ceremony, as the club honors its longtime home with players and memories from decades past, while also setting the stage for the Sockers’ move to Frontwave Arena in Oceanside starting in the 2024-25 season.

More details will be released as the season approaches. Single-match tickets for the entire 2023-24 Sockers home schedule are now for sale, available online at sdsockers.com, or via phone at (866) 799-GOAL.
