Sockers "Season Of Giving" To Help Non-Profits

The San Diego Sockers are excited to continue their dedication to support their community by announcing the creation of the Sockers Season of Giving initiative. The Sockers’ 2019-20 community appreciation initiative will begin with a six-week community engagement program to support local nonprofits with raising awareness and donations. This engagement program will begin November 1 and culminate on December 22 with the Sockers’ Season of Giving Game vs. Tacoma with kickoff at 5:05 p.m. at Pechanga Arena San Diego.

“This is the first year of the program, and we are passionate about helping our local non-profit partners during the holiday season," said Sockers Community Relations Director Jonathan Greene. "We are committed to supporting a variety of organizations that help youth, military, health care, and animal causes."

The Sockers have partnered with the following non-profit organizations and events; Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank, Watkins Wellness & Spas for a Cause, Hope for the Warriors, Voices for Children, Autism Speaks Walk, San Diego Run for the Hungry, Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos, Boys & Girls Clubs of San Dieguito, Junior Seau Foundation, Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego, Toys for Tots, American Cancer Society, Traveling Stories, Boys And Girls Foundation, Legacy Laces, San Diego Blood Bank, San Diego Rescue Mission,  FACE Foundation For Pets, Feeding America San Diego, Traci's Paws, Pro Kids Golf- First Tee San Diego, Randy Jones Foundation, Gurmilan Foundation, San Diego Council On Literacy, Neighborhood House San Diego, Warrior Foundation Freedom Station, ALS Association of San Diego, Junior League, and On Track Wellness.

In addition to the Season of Giving Game, fans are encouraged to come on December 13 for the team's first annual Sock & Underwear Toss benefiting the San Diego Rescue Mission. After the Sockers score their first goal, supporters will be able to throw their donations onto the field, which will be collected and distributed to local homeless families.

In conjunction with Watkins Wellness, the world’s leading manufacturer of hot tubs/spas and maker of aquatic fitness products, the team will be conducting an opportunity drawing for a custom-wrapped Sockers spa during the December 13th, 15th, and 22nd home games. Proceeds from the opportunity drawing will be given to Spas For The Cause to help fund breast cancer research.
