Sockers Cruise Past Coyotes

(November 26, 2016) San Diego Sockers new signing Max Touloute had a game to remember against expansion team El Paso Coyotes. Touloute, “The Haitian Sensation” scored 5 goals on the night and added 1 assist, including four goals in the first half.

In a game controlled handily by the San Diego Sockers, El Paso Coyotes were left searching for their first win in franchise history. Sockers came out firing and led 8-1 at the half after Touloute’s four first half goals. The Coyotes mounted a comeback attempt in the second half, outscoring the Sockers 5-4. However it was not enough to overcome the Sockers’ first half lead.

The El Paso Coyotes scored four goals in the fourth quarter to make the score 9-6 with 6+ minutes left in the game. In the process of the comeback, Coyotes attackers started to give Sockers fan’s nightmares of the Florida Tropics comeback game earlier this season.

The game ended with Sockers scoring three late goals as the Coyotes were looking to even up the score line. With six different goal scorers, the Sockers won 12-6 against the El Paso Coyotes. Incredibly, the Coyotes recorded a different goal scorer for each of their goals.

Midfielder Matt Clare also continued to add to his incredible assist number on the season, adding four in the first half versus El Paso. Captain Kraig Chiles added 2 goals to his career tally (292), closing on Branko Segota’s San Diego Sockers record (298). Goalkeeper Boris Pardo got the start in goal and made 11 saves and gave up 6 goals.

Next week, the Sockers return home to San Diego after four consecutive road games. San Diego Sockers will face Tacoma Stars in a matchup between the top two teams in the Pacific Division.
