Sockers Honor Ron Newman In Pregame Ceremony

The Sockers honored their legendary head coach Ron Newman with a pregame ceremony before the December 16 game. The Newman family was in attendance as well as over 30 former Sockers players. The ceremony featured a video with highlights from the coach's career, a presentation of a framed photograph of the coach with his championship trophies, a word from Guy (his son) and the announcement that the playing surface was renamed Ron Newman Field At Pechanga Arena San Diego. The team will also be wearing a black armband with the initials, RN, and a gold star with the number 10 inside.
