Sockers Sign Forward Anthony Pacheco

The San Diego Sockers today announced the signing of forward Anthony Pacheco to a free-agent contract for the 2022-23 MASL season. As per league and club policy, the terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"Anthony has been with us at the combine and camp and impressed so far, and we’re eager to see him take the next step as a professional,” said Sockers general manager Sean Bowers of the signing.

Pacheco, 22, joins a forward group that includes MASL Elite VI performer Tavoy Morgan, club captain Kraig Chiles and athletic two-way star Christian Gutierrez. With Chiles expected to miss the season opener on Saturday in Ontario due to a coaching conflict, Pacheco could make his MASL debut at Toyota Arena.

Pacheco is at the outset of his professional career, having previously played in preseason games for the NISA side 1904 FC at the age of 19 here in San Diego. He was a varsity starter at Gompers High School, and impressed Sockers brass during his appearance at the Sockers Combine in November, earning an invite to training camp.

“I’ve always been a goal scorer and a passionate player from the start,” said Pacheco of his indoor experience, which began with 7-v-7 matches at Memorial Park, “I’ve always wanted to be a professional soccer player and got here with hard work and dedication.

"I’m ready to get my indoor career started and make this a successful year for the club.”
