Sockers Sign Goalkeeper Jesus "Chuy" Molina

The San Diego Sockers announced today the signing of former U.S. and Mexican National Arena team goalkeeper Jesus "Chuy" Molina for the remainder of the season. As per team policy, terms of the deal were not released.

Molina, who was a member of the Sockers for two seasons in 2014-15 and 2015-16 (6-1, 4.38 GAA), will back up starter Boris Pardo.  During his nine-year arena soccer career, he played in the Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL) for the Stockton/California Cougars, Anaheim Bolts, and Las Vegas Legends; and in the MASL with the Sockers and El Paso Coyotes. He has appeared in 88 games, compiling a 52-29 record with a 7.12 GAA. He was a member of both the U.S. (2008) and Mexican National Arena teams (2017).

Molina spent his collegiate career at Santa Rosa Junior College in 1998 and 1999.  He led the Sonoma Sol to the 2005 National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) and United States Soccer Federation (USSF) Amateur Cup championships. Born and raised in Mexico, Molina played with Mexico's Club Deportivo Toluca (First Division), Athletico Celaya (Division 1A) and Acambaro (Third Division) between 1994 and 1996.

San Diego plays back-to-back road matches beginning Thursday in Ontario (MASLtv & Eleven Sports US) and Friday against Turlock (MASLtv). The Sockers return to Ron Newman Field at Pechanga Arena San Diego on Friday, February 15, 7:35 p.m. to meet division rival Tacoma in Landon Donovan's MASL debut.
