High-Scoring Free Agent Midfielder Gutierrez Signed

The 14-time champion San Diego Sockers announced today the signing of high-scoring midfielder Christian Gutierrez to bolster the offense for the 2018-19 season. The transaction, which is pending visa approval, was made during the Major Arena Soccer League’s Free Agency signing period which ends May 15. Per league and team policies, details of the agreement were not released. 

Gutierrez comes to San Diego after two highly-productive seasons with El Paso (2017-18) and Atletico Baja (2016-17), where he tallied 146 points in only 62 career games. He was named to the 2017-18 All-MASL Third Team. 

Sockers General Manager Sean Bowers stated, “Being able to add a quality player and person to our roster will only benefit us next year in a league that continues to improve season-to-season. You can no longer remain static, you must look to acquire good talent and we did that with this signing."
