Sockers To Host Two 2021 Open Tryout Camps
The 15-time champion San Diego Sockers will begin preparations to defend their 2021 Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) Championship by conducting two sessions of their annual tryouts at the team's training facility at Bradley Park in San Marcos. The camps will be held on October 2 & 3 and November 21 & 22 with all sessions being from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
Players interested in participating in the tryouts must be 18+ years old with a valid I.D. to register. There is a one-time non-refundable $95 registration fee, and attendance is mandatory for both days of the weekend to have a chance to be called back for the final tryout phase at the start of the Sockers Training Camp in early November.
Sockers Head Coach Phil Salvagio, Player Personnel Director Chiky Luna, and General Manager Sean Bowers will be overseeing the tryouts.
“The tryouts give us an opportunity to scout local talent and to help continue building the pipeline of players for the first team,” said Bowers. “These camps will be even more important due to the return of the Sockers-2 team to the MASL-2 league in 2022. We will be looking for players to help stock the development team for their upcoming season."
Tryout registration is now available online at SDSockers.com/tryouts.
The Sockers will begin defending their 2021 Ron Newman Cup Championship in late November with a full 24-game schedule.
