Sockers2 Blank Express 9-0; Host Fury II Sunday

The San Diego Sockers2 (8-1) shut out the visiting Turlock Express 9-0 on Friday afternoon at Pechanga Arena San Diego. Goalkeepers Xavier Snaer-Williams and Gerardo Olvera combined to make five saves on 10 shots, while the defense blocked the other five shots in front of them. 

Alaberto Castellanos led San Diego offensively with three points (2 goals, 1 assist). Kevin Aviles and Ismael Rojo added two goals each to San Diego's total. Scoring single markers were Alan Crespo, Jesse Gonzales, and Jamie Velazquez. 

The game was never in doubt after the Sockers2 took the lead with 4:58 remaining on the game-winning goal by Rojo.

Turlock falls to 2-5 on the season and looks to rebound in Ontario on Saturday night versus the Fury II.

San Diego v Ontario Match Preview

The San Diego Sockers2 (8-1) host the Ontario Fury II (2-4) for the final time this season. San Diego leads the series 2-1, with each team winning on its home turf.  The Sockers2, who are on a five-game winning streak, come into the game leading the West Division with RGV (6-2) in second.  

The last time these squads met was on January 16, San Diego lost their first game of the season, 7-4. Rene Flores had two goals and two assists to lead San Diego in the losing effort. 

Ontario was on a two-game losing streak going into Saturday night's home match against Turlock. The Fury II are led F Mo Gueye (5-1=6) and Bryan Quintanilla (2-3=5).
