Sockers2 End Season With 12-6 Loss In Turlock
The defending Major Arena Soccer League2 champion San Diego Sockers2 ended their worst-ever season with a 12-6 loss against the Turlock Express on Saturday afternoon at the Turlock Indoor Soccer Center.
San Diego (2-9-1, 7 pts), who finished last in the six-team West Division, failed to make the playoffs for the first time in their four-year history. In fact, the Sockers2 had made the M2 Finals in the previous three seasons, winning two titles.
The Cal Express scored four consecutive first-half goals for a 4-2 lead after San Diego jumped out to a 2-0 lead on tallies by Brian Rodriguez and Andre Van Es.
The third period saw the Sockers2 get back to within goal at 6-5 after trailing by as many as three. However, Turlock scored six straight goals to break a 6-6 tie early in the fourth period.
Nine different Cal Express players scored the 12 goals while Oscar Espinoza led San Diego with two goals and two assists.
