Sockers2 Rally For 8-6 Win To Move Into First Place

The San Diego Sockers2 (7-1) overcame two 3-goal deficits to win on an Ismael Rojo free-kick goal with 2:39 remaining to sweep the two-game series with RGV Barracudas FC in Brownsville, TX. San Diego moved into first place over RGV (6-2) in the MASL2 West Division. RGV held leads of 4-1 and 6-3 before surrendering their advantage for the first time on the Rojo goal from the sidewall. 

The Sockers2 will return home on Friday, February 25, 2:30pm to begin a four-game homestand to end the regular season with a match against the Turlock Express. Kevin Aviles' golden-goal header at 4:55 of overtime lifted the Sockers2 to a two-goal come-from-behind victory over the RGV Barracudas FC (6-1) in Brownsville, TX on Saturday night. San Diego (6-1) tied the game on an Alan Garcia goal with only eight seconds left to force the extra session allowing the team to win the first game of an important two-match set . The Sockers trailed 5-3 with under two minutes to play but tallied two sixth-attacker goals, the first by Edgar Alvarez at 13:57 and then Garcia's equalizer. San Diego has won consecutive overtime games to move into a first-place tie with RGV. The squads will meet for the division lead on Sunday at 2pm PT.
