Sockers2 Clip Wings To Near Playoff Berth At 10-1
Alan Crespo had a hat trick to propel the San Diego Sockers2 to a 4-2 victory over the Wichita Wings Sunday afternoon at Pechanga Arena in a contest between division leaders.
Crespo scored his three goals in the first half and the San Diego defense held off the Wings. Xavier Snaer-Williams started in goal and earned the win making eight saves. Gerardo Olvero (6 saves) played the second half between the pipes and several key saves in the final period.
Wichita kept the match close throughout and made it a one-goal game with four minutes remaining, but San Diego's Ismael Rojo scored with 16 seconds to close out the Wings.
San Diego improved to 10-1 and nears a postseason berth for the third time in team history. The Sockers2 made it to the M2 Finals in their first two years, winning the 2019 game for their first championship.
Wichita finishes the season with a 7-5 and remains in first place slightly over the Omaha Kings, who have five games in hand,
