Sockers2 Stop Ontario Improve To 9-1; Remain In 1st
The San Diego Sockers2 used three fourth-quarter goals to defeat the visiting Ontario Fury II, 4-1, on Sunday afternoon at Pechanga Arena. Alan Crespo had a brace to lead San Diego (9-1) to its ninth win of the season.
The contest was even through the first three periods with the action going back-and-forth. However, Kevin Josue's power-play goal at 38 seconds into the final stanza opened the food gates for San Diego. Crespo added a shootout goal after Fury II goalkeeper Brian Orozco was cited for an intentional handball. Josh Rodriguez had the dagger goal at the 8:30 mark to finish the scoring. Xavier Snaer-Williams made nine saves, while Gerardo Olvera stopped two shots in the second half to earn the win in goal.
Ontario drops to 3-5 and is in danger of missing the playoffs.
San Diego remains home with a match against the Wichita Wings next Sunday, March 6, 12:30pm. Tickets are on sale at www.SDSockers.co,/Sockers2.
