Well Wishes from the Sockers

For Immediate Release
(January 12, 2017)

The news of the Chargers leaving has rocked the city of San Diego. The Chargers were a beacon of hope in our community and helped lay a foundation of helping others in the region through sports. Their absence in the community will be sorely felt for years to come. We wish the Chargers the best of luck in their future endeavors.

As the door closes on the sports franchise in San Diego an opportunity arises for another Futbol (football) club. The San Diego Sockers, the winningest franchise in San Diego history, will turn the city’s disappointment into something special in 2017.

San Diego Sockers General Manager Sean Bowers commented on the NFL’s franchise decision to leave San Diego,

“As a San Diego native and Chargers season ticket holder for the greater part of the last decade, I am sad that they are leaving. They were ingrained into the fabric of the San Diego community. The Sockers will continue to share our championship history with the citizens of San Diego and are primed to grow with the community supporting us."
